  Noel Acadien au Village

Whether you're looking to tie the knot, hold a fundraiser or just show some appreciation for your valued employees and their families, Acadian Village is the spot for you. We've hosted festivals, educational programs, a multitude of weddings, corporate picnics and intimate luncheons.
Acadian Village offers three unique venues for your event including the New Hope Chapel, Pavilion, & Stutes Store.  We look forward to assisting in the planning of your special day!

New Hope Chapel

The New Hope Chapel is a replica of an 1850 chapel. The architects were Don Breaux and Robert Barras. It was built through the efforts of the Knights of Columbus and opened for the Bicentennial.  The New Hope Chapel seats about 125 people.

The ceiling was built of cypress and is held up by pegs. The floor was made of Louisiana long leaf pine that is about 200 years old.

There is only one original pew; it is 150 years old. The rest are copies, made by Mr. Whitney Breaux. The Stations of the Cross were hand carved with chisel, knife and hammer by a local sculptor, Mr. Lester Duhon.

The main alter was the type used before Vatican Council II. It originally served St. Anne's church in Youngsville, Louisiana and later St. Joseph's in Milton, Louisiana. It was donated to the Village by Mrs. Jules Hebert of Milton. The side altar (Last Supper scene) is a gift from an anonymous donor who left it on the porch of the general store.

The Pavilion

With the growth of tourism in the 1980s, officials with Acadian Village organized the building of the Pavilion. The Pavilion is an open area venue designed with "bringing the outdoors in" in mind. With nearly 10,000 square feet under the roof, the Pavilion can accommodate over 500 guests. The Pavilion has housed many local bands and other performers, including plays and educational events. The size of the Pavilion has grown to accommodate the growth of The Village. Today, visitors to local cook-offs, concerts and company functions still sit at wooden picnic tables or get comfortable with their own lawn chairs. During Noel Acadian au Village (December), the Pavilion is "wrapped" to keep the elements out and illuminated both inside and outside with thousands of lights. Inside, patrons enjoy hot chocolate, local cuisine, local entertainment and shop the arts and crafts booths.

The Stutes Building

The Fernand Stutes Building is a replica of the once popular Fernand Stutes Grocery Bar and Barber Shop which once occupied the corners of Ridge Road and what is now Ambassador Caffery Parkway. Today, the 3000+ square feet building is used as a reception hall for the many weddings that take place at Acadian Village along with other private functions. All rooms combined (excluding the kitchen) can hold about 80 people seated with up to 150 capacity - perfect for intimate gatherings.

The entire project was built out of donations from the Lafayette, Louisiana community in 2001. Architects, contractors, carpenters, electricians, material vendors and others pledged services or products to recreate the legendary structure.

Fernand's establishment captured the essences of all the country bars of the past. Fernand was the quintessential Cajun, loved by generations of patrons. He was bar owner, grocer, barber, farmer and justice of the peace, operating all his endeavors from the rambling wood frame building that housed the colorful bar. He is an Acadiana legend and memories of his place of business are lovingly held by people from all walks of life.

This legend was a place where you could spend a Saturday afternoon drinking beer and shooting pool with your friends; get a haircut and buy the weekly provision of groceries, and marry your favorite girl by the barber and owner of the establishment - Fernand Stutes - a local politician and the essence of entrepreneurship.
